About Us
Our Heritage, Our Hounds, Our Country
The Royal Artillery Hunt holds a distinctive place in British hunting, proudly maintaining its affiliation with the Royal Regiment of Artillery whilst operating independently of regimental funding. Although our military heritage remains central to our identity, the Hunt brings together a welcoming community of military and civilian members, united by a shared appreciation of horses, hounds, horsemanship and the countryside.
We pride ourselves on our friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Whether you are an experienced rider, new to following hounds, a supporter or someone who simply enjoys the traditions and fellowship of the hunting field, you will find a warm welcome at the Royal Artillery Hunt.
Based on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, we continue our traditions through lawful drag hunting, combining the enjoyment of riding across beautiful countryside with the spectacle of watching our hounds work.
Our Country
The Royal Artillery Hunt is fortunate to enjoy some of Wiltshire's finest countryside, from the rolling farmland and picturesque Vale to the wide, open expanses of Salisbury Plain.
Through the generosity of farmers and landowners, and subject to the necessary permissions and licences, we are also privileged to enjoy access to designated areas of the Defence Estate. Each part of our country offers its own character and enjoyment, whether riding across the Vale or following hounds over the distinctive landscape of Salisbury Plain.
We are deeply grateful to those whose continued support makes our activities possible.

Hunting with the Royal Artillery Hunt
Drag hunting has a long and established place within the traditions of the Royal Artillery, and today the Royal Artillery Hunt proudly continues that heritage.
Our English foxhounds follow a specially prepared artificial scent laid along predetermined routes agreed with landowners, allowing riders and followers to enjoy the traditional spectacle of hounds working, the pleasure of riding across country and the fellowship of the hunting field without pursuing live quarry. Whether mounted, on foot or following by car, there are many ways to enjoy a day with the Hunt.

Our Community
At the heart of the Royal Artillery Hunt is a shared sense of friendship, fellowship and tradition.
Our community includes serving and former members of the Armed Forces, civilian riders, families, subscribers and supporters, all of whom contribute to the life of the Hunt.
We are also proud of our connections with the Royal Artillery Hunt Pony Club and the Avon Vale Pony Club, encouraging younger generations to develop their horsemanship and appreciation of country life.
Whether you are a longstanding follower or joining us for the first time, there is a place for you at the Royal Artillery Hunt.
